We Pulled Up Expecting One Thing… Union Gospel Mission Was Something Bigger
Some demos are cool because of the building.
Some are cool because of the people.
And some hit different because of both.
When we pulled up to Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities in St. Paul, I’ll be honest — I was expecting more of a church feel, maybe more of the classic helping-people-with-food-and-clothes type of setup. But this place was different in a bigger way.
The more we learned, the more it hit us.
Union Gospel Mission Twin Cities has been serving the Twin Cities for more than 120 years, and their work goes way beyond just basic help. They serve people dealing with homelessness, hunger, and addiction, and they pair food and shelter with things like mental health support, addiction recovery, education, workforce development, and faith formation. It’s a Christ-centered mission, and you can feel that purpose behind what they do.
That made this demo mean a little more.
And the demo itself went awesome.
We started in the chapel area, and everything went smooth. The robot did its thing, we got it programmed, got it scheduled, and left feeling really good about how it all came together.
One of the best parts of the whole visit was the people.
Greg, Joe, Isaac, and Deb were awesome. Greg, Joe, and Isaac were especially locked in during the demo — asking great questions, engaged the whole time, really wanting to understand how it all works and how it could fit their space. I loved that. Those are the kinds of demos that are just fun to be part of, because it feels like everybody’s in it and trying to figure out how to make it work the right way.
And honestly, it would be inspiring to work with an organization like that.
When you understand that this isn’t just about cleaning floors — it’s about supporting a place that’s helping people fight through homelessness, addiction, hunger, and a whole lot of heavy stuff — it hits different. Knowing the role that faith plays there makes it even more meaningful.
We’re excited to see how the robot performs tonight, and we really hope this is the start of something good.
We mean it when we say we’ve got their back through the whole process. If they want us back out there to dial things in more, fine-tune anything, or spend more time training Isaac, we’re all in.
Good people. Smooth demo. Meaningful mission.
Those are the ones you remember.
